I’m feeling all sorts of emotion right now. Mainly unhappiness and guilt. I had a meeting with the big boss just now and she was unhappy with the searches that I did for her. Had to listen to her lecture for about half an hour, and the thing that makes me feel unhappy is that because of this matter, my whole department also had to be called in and listened to the lecture.
*sigh* I feel so bad for my colleagues and I believe my appraisal for this year will be affected because of this matter. Basically, I do not have that much of experience in searching but still its no excuse. I have to be realistic and admit that it was my fault.
If only I had been more thorough and go beyond what I think I should do, all this will not have happened.
Frankly, its not easy to admit one’s mistake. The first reaction would be to defend myself and to make excuses. That’s not right! Right??
So now I have to overcome my negative feelings and instead focus on the points of what my big boss said so that I may improve in my service towards others (as in the library users).
Hopefully, it’s a lesson learned and I could do better in future.
Pray for me, will ya?
Jazakallahu khairan…..

As-salaamu’alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my very dear sister,
Sorry to hear you had to go through this. May Allah make it easy for you. Ameen.
Umm Yusuf is right about the hadith. ‘If’ is from shaytaan. I have the hadith..let me go find it. Ha.. found it..it pays off sending hadiths to everyone each Friday. Here it is:
Narrated Abu Hurairah (radiyal lahu anhu)
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa-sallam) said, “A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good. Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it. If you are afflicted in any way, do not say: ‘If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such,’ but say only: ‘Allah so determined and did as He willed.’ The word ‘if’ opens the gates of satanic thoughts.”
Sahih Muslim
Commentary:
1. In this Hadith, goodness is acknowledged in weak as well as strong because the real Faith is a common feature of both. The one who is stronger is, however, better with Allah for the reason that he is more active and energetic in the matter of noble deeds and performance of ritual prayers, obligatory as well as voluntary.
2. This Hadith ordains that in case of trouble, one should exercise patience and show submission and obedience rather than saying ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ about it, because it provides Satan with a chance to mislead the sufferer.
However, acknowledging your weaknesses is the only way you can strengthen them. So my dearest sister, make lemonade out of it..
Life is short my dear, we can’t regret..only make dua’ and learn.
Wa’alaykum as-salaam
Lots of Love
Farhana
